Grade 2014A is a high-strength aluminium alloy that retains its strength after heat treatment.
It contains 4–5% copper and is supplied in a fully heat-treated condition (solution heat-treated
and artificially aged). Typical applications of aluminium alloy 2014A include high-strength
components used in the aerospace and defence industries. It offers good machinability and
hardness, but it is not suitable for welding and is prone to stress-corrosion cracking.
